Just realized that I cannot find an English match for the frequently employed Russian idiom "kachat' prava" (literally "to sway one's rights"). Rough translation "to insist on observance of one's rights" is unsatisfactory since it drops the point of the idiom. Original meaning emphasizes the very uselessness of such an ever untimely activity. Apparently that's just another culture-specific stuff.
